At Johnny’s Interlock we are experts in ignition interlock and portable alcohol monitoring devices.
A single incidence of driving while under the influence can lead to the necessary use of a court-ordered breathalyzer.
Our mission is to help our clients get back on the road and head toward a brighter future by using the best technology and devices in the market.
The Reliant EMU is the portable alcohol monitoring device we offer for subjects required to obtain court ordered breathalyzer, parole breathalyzer, pre-trial breathalyzer or probation breathalyzer to observe alcohol free behavior in community supervision, home confinement or 24/7 applications.
This portable device is available for in-home testing and may be court-ordered as an alternative to an ignition interlock device if the offender does not have his or her own vehicle, if they share their vehicle with others, or if they have failed to comply with installing an ignition interlock device in their vehicle.
The RELIANT™ EMU (Electronic Monitoring Unit) is a portable breath alcohol tester connected to a smartphone using a proprietary app for electronic monitoring of subjects. The portable breathalyzer uses the smartphone cellular connection and Bluetooth connectivity to provide remote supervision.
The Reliant EMU home monitoring unit can be used for the following:
- Court Ordered – Courts often order alcohol-monitoring devices in DUI and other cases involving alcohol.
- Probation Supervision – Is a program that works as a substitute for incarceration.
- Bond Condition – Subjects may be ordered to get a portable alcohol monitoring device as a condition of their bond while their case is pending.
- Pretrial Supervision – is a way to monitor activities and behavior of subjects released on bond.
- Voluntary – Portable alcohol monitoring often used for Family Court and Child Custody Cases.
The portable breathalyzer is leased out for $136+tax a month with a six month contract. The subject is enrolled through an online portal and an app is then installed on a smartphone to provide secure communication with the central database. The EMU is then registered to the monitoring program to verify the breath alcohol test results.

“The EMU gives subjects the freedom to follow their work and life schedule while being alerted to provide breath tests with images on a random or fixed schedule. The interactive experience is intuitive and user-friendly by providing subjects with messages and appointments to maintain monitoring schedules,” says Felix J.E. Comeau, Chairman and CEO–Alcohol Countermeasure Systems (ACS).
Offering multiple identification procedures for additional security and geo-localization features to ensure the subject conducting the test is registered with the monitoring agency, the RELIANT EMU device is ideal for law enforcement.
Quality engineering ensures the RELIANT EMU uses a high performance electrochemical (fuel cell) sensor for breath alcohol measurement and provides rapid response and resilience to drift to ensure long term reliability and accuracy.
